Who we are and what we provide your children

The Waynesboro Day Care Center is a not-for-profit child care facility that provides safe, high-quality, affordable day care in a child-centered environment that fosters dignity, respect, and learning.  We:

--- Provide a good place to work, with high expectations, team work, cooperation, and communication

--- Create a work environment that encourages professionalism, growth, and diversity

--- Nurture each child's age-specific unique qualities by recognizing the significance of growth, confidence, emotional, physical, social, and cognitive development

--- Provide a safe environment and warm, loving care

--- Meet each child's nutritional needs by providing a daily breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack

--- Strive to support families through strong partnerships and to grow a financially-strong organization.

Toddler and pre-school years are full of exploration, years your child is learning the fundamentals of communication and interaction for the future.  One of the early learning programs used at WDCC is called " Mind in the Making."  Our staff builds confidence and trust with children and parents.

Our curriculum is based on circle time activities, art, music, dramatic play, science, reading, and physical development.  The curriculum includes a pre-school computer program.  We encourage skills in creative art, dramatic play, science and math, language development, physical development, and social interactions.  Children are given time for hands-on investigation, and opportunities to create, reason, problem solve, socialize, and communicate, so they will discover and learn at their own individual pace.  Since children learn best when they are able to make their own decisions about learning, our play-oriented activities offer choices and freedom of expression.

Learning activities are age appropriate.  In every room, a Group Supervisor and Assistant Group Supervisors oversee the school curriculum and lesson plans.   There are indoor and outdoor play areas.  There are public programs at Christmas and in the Spring.

Funding for the Waynesboro Day Care Center comes from United Way of Franklin County, Child Care Information Services, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, an annual fund drive, the on-site Thrift Shop, program fees, and private donations.

Program fees are based on a sliding scale according to the income of parents and/or guardians.  To nurture growth, a nutritious breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack are included in program fees.  We offer weekly, daily, half-day, and before- and/or after-school rates for ages 18 months to 12 years.

Transportation is provided for some before- and after-school programs.

Hours of operation.  The Waynesboro Day Care Center is open year-round, Monday - Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., except for holidays and professional days.
