Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library, 45 E. Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Rd, Waynesboro -- Pet adoptions, dog licenses, pet cemetery -- open from 10 am to 4:30 pm Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri, and Sat. (closed Sun and Wed).  To reach the shelter, go east on Route 16 (Main St.) to the traffic signal at Pizza Hut.  Turn right onto Clayton Ave., go 1/2 mile to Fifth Street and turn left (Fifth St. becomes Route 997, State Hill Road). At the bottom of the hill, turn right onto Lyons Rd.  The shelter is 1/2 mile on the right.   717-762-9091

Antietam National Battlefield in Sharpsburg, MD commemorates the American Civil War Battle of Antietam that occurred on September 17, 1862.  Open year-round, this national treasure of more than 3,200 acres encompasses an 8-1/2 mile driving tour.

Waynesboro Area Human Services Council, 24 E. Main St, Waynesboro -- Coordinates a wide variety of human services needed by the residents of Waynesboro and Greencastle-Antrim Area School Districts.  Help is given to eligible clients who qualify in a variety of individual and family crisis situations in obtaining emergency food, clothing, diapers, and many other forms of assistance.  Individuals needing help should call a community services coordinator at 717-762-6941, Monday through Friday, from 9 am to 12 noon and 1 pm to 3:30 pm.

Waynesboro Historical Society, 138 W. Main St, is located in the Oller House, a large, handsome Queen Anne style Victorian house built in 1892 for Joseph and Myrtle Oller.  Open Wed 1-5, Thu 10-4, Fri 10-1, and Sat 10-4 -- 717-762-1747

Waynesboro Hospital, 501 E. Main St, Waynesboro, (an affiliate of Summit Health,

Women in Need (WIN) Victim Services works with victims of domestic violence, sexual assault or abuse, and other crimes in the Franklin and Fulton county areas.  Its free services are described at http://www.winservices.org/ 

Women, Infants and Children Nutrition Program (WIC), 230 S. Potomac St,
Waynesboro,  provides milk, eggs, cheese, peanut butter, beans, cereal, juice, and formula at no cost for infants and children under age five; women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or recently had a baby.  Eligibility requirements and how to apply for benefits can be obtained from the WIC, 717-762-2143.  Office hours:  Tues. Franklin County Area Development Corp., created in 1960, provides economic development strategies designed to attract, retain, and expand existing and new businesses and family sustainable employment opportunities. Franklin County Children and Youth Service (FCCYS) is the local public child welfare agency responsible for assuring the safety and well-being of dependent and abused children from birth to age 18 years.  FCCYS helps families with children from birth to 18 years of age residing in Franklin County.
