Tayamentasachta Environmental Center, 500 Leitersburg St, Greencastle, PA, near the schools complex, was established in 1966 to provide students with experiences in environmental education. Its name is a Native American word meaning "never ending waters or spring." The farmhouse-visitor center contains displays, exhibits, a library, and information on environmental issues and local history. The grounds are open to the public from dawn to dusk every day for hiking and other nature-related activities. Programs and workshops are scheduled throughout the year. 597-17225
