   -- Caledonia State Park. The 1,125-acre Caledonia State Park is in Adams and Franklin counties, midway between Chambersburg and Gettysburg, at the intersection of US Rte. 30 and PA Rte 233.  Caledonia is in the northernmost section of the Blue Ridge Mountains known locally as South Mountain.  Blue Mountain, the easternmost ridge of the Allegheny Mountains, is to the west and northwest of the park across a large low, rolling, fertile valley known as the Great Valley.  The Appalachian Trail traverses the central portion of Caledonia.

   -- Cowans Gap State Park, between Chambersburg and McConnellsburg covers 1,085 acres in Allen's Valley of Fulton County (adjacent to Franklin County border).  The state forest land surrounding the park has natural beauty during all seasons of the year.  The 42-acre Cowans Gap Lake has trout, bass, perch, and pan fish; there is an accessible fishing pier.  The 500-foot sand beach and the food and refreshment concession are open from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day.

   -- Gifford Pinchot State Park is a 2,338-acre full service park in northern York County along PA 177 between the towns of Rossville and Lewisberry,  The park has reverting farm fields and wooded hillsides--the 340-acre Pinchot Lake is a prime attraction.

   -- Mont Alto State Park is in Franklin County.  It covers 23 acres, and can be reached from Caledonia State Park on US 30, the Lincoln Highway, by traveling seven miles south on PA 233 or, from the south, travel north on PA 233, one mile from the town of Mont Alto.  To contact Mont Alto, use Caledonia's phone and email address. http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/parks/montalto.aspx

   -- Pine Grove Furnace State Park is in a beautiful mountain setting in southern Cumberland County, steeped in natural and historical features.  The two lakes in the park are the 25-acre Laurel Lake and the smaller Fuller Lake, which is 1.7-acre.
